News From KL GrandPrix Chess 2010

Today, 6th February 2010, at the KL Rapid Chess Grandprix 2010, in the Open Category, five players ended with 2 points from 2 rounds. The five co-leaders are Amithpal, Sumant, Ahmad Fadzil, Yeoh Li Tian and Faiezul Zainal. Amithpal Singh Sardar, the winner of the recent City Day Chess Blitz 2010, is the only foreign player in the field and hails from India with a 2203 FIDE-rating.
A few notable names are Yat Guo Jie with 1.5 points, Nik Ahmad Farouqi, Mohamed Abdul Haq, both with 1.0 point, Roshan Singh with 1.0 point, Demudu Subramaniam and daughter Sarika Subramaniam with 1.0 point.
Surprisingly, Mohd Fadli Zakaria @Stonemaster, who has a FIDE-rating of 2070, ends the day with zilch after two rounds! Competition is stiff! This field of players is no push overs! Though it is stilll early days yet! Tomorrow will be another hectic day for these players.

Tomorrow there will be another four more rounds of play. Yeoh Li Tian will meet Sumant on second board, Amithpal will meet Ahmad Fazil on first board. Yat Guo Jie will meet Tang Wei Chiat on fifth board, Nik Ahmad Farouqi meets Zulhasrizal Zulkifli on fourth board. Roshan Singh against Chan Sheng Yip on sixth, Stonemaster will meet Jamaluddin on 13th board.
