As the grand prix continues to catch fire in Malaysia, another state is also embarking on a similar grand prix style of chess tournament. This time it is the state of Perak!
Those of you Perakians who have been itching to join one tournament or other because it was in Kuala Lumpur or in Melaka or in Penang and you decided not to go. Well dear chess friend, one just landed by your door step. This grand prix will be held over 10 districts of Perak with the last one culminating back to Ipoh as the grand finale!
The first leg will be held in Ipoh, Perak on the 7th March 2010 (Sunday). So hurry up to book a place as the closing date will be on the 4th March 2010.
Other Legs: CRC Taiping, 11 Apr / Parit Buntar, 25 Apr / Lumut, 16 May / Parit, 27 Jun / Teluk Intan, 11 Jul / Tapah/Kampar, 01 Aug / Grik, 26 Sep / Kuala Kangsar, 17 Oct / FINALS-Ipoh 19 Dec 2010 (All dates subject to confirmation).
The tournament is jointly organised by Perak International Chess Association (PICA) and Dato’ Arthur Tan Chess Center (DATCC) and sponsored by Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd. The grand prix is called the “Tan Sri Lee Loy Seng Perak Grand Prix Chess Championship 2010”.
