25 October 2010, Chalkidiki, Greece – Puteri Rifqah Fahada bt Azhar won her fifth and sixth round games and she is currently in the top 30 of her category (Girls Under-10) and she has garnered four points, thus far.
The Malaysian contingent managed five wins and four draws in the sixth round of play.
Malaysia’s winners for the sixth round include Mohd Nabil b Azman Hisham (Boys U16), Muhd Faqih b Aminuddin (Boys U08), Aron Teh Eu Wan (Boys U12), Puteri Rifqah Fahada bt Azhar (Girls U10), and WFM Nur Najiha Azman Hisham (Girls U12) (picture below).
The draws are coming from CM Amier Hamzah Zuhri (Boys U10), Lee Kah Meng Elgin (Boys U14), Zainoor Ikmal b Mohd Noor (Girls U08) and Nur Islamurni bt Yahaya (Girls U08).
Here are the sixth round results and seventh round pairings for the Malaysian contingent in the World Youth Chess Championship 2010 in Greece.
Individual Performances of Malaysian contingent at WYCC 2010. After the sixth round, Puteri Rifqah Fahada has become our heroine for leading the contingent with a 24th placing in her Girls U10 category for Malaysia. She won two consecutive games in rounds 5 and 6 yesterday!
Camilia Johari is still in the top 40 of her category despite suffering a loss in the sixth round against a 1800 rating Georgian lass. Wong Yinn Long dropped to 38th placing after a lacklustre performance in the sixth round after a loss to a local Grecian player.
Let’s hope our team of chess warriors will do better in the coming rounds. Today, Monday, 25th October 2010 is a rest day for the chess players at Porta Corras, Greece but they will be back for more rounds of play on Tuesday.
