Terengganu and Kuala Lumper Leads In Respective Groups

7th August 2010, Kuala Lumpur – After four rounds of play, Terengganu are leading Group A of the MAKSAK Inter-Governmental Chess Tournament being held at Puteri Park Hotel, Jalan Raja Laut, Kuala Lumpur.
Terengganu beat defending champion Sarawak 2.5 to 1.5. On the first board Hashim Jusoh could only managed a draw with Abang Mohd Reduan. Terengganu’s winning point came from Norazmi Mohd Nor who beat Lim Kian Hwa on board two. Games from other board results ended with a draw. Terengganu convincingly beat Perlis and Penjara with 4-0 respectively. Terengganu has 8 MP, Sarawak - 4 MP, Sabah – 2 MP, Perlis – 2 MP and Penjara lost all three games so far. Terengganu has played all games in the group, while the other four teams has one more game to play today, 7th August 2010.


In Group B, Kuala Lumpur are current leaders of the group with 6 MP. beating Perak 3.5-0.5, beating Johor 2.5-1.5 and winning against Melaka, 4-0. PDRM and Johor are runners-up with 4 MP each. Following closely behind is Perak with 2 MP and Melaka has yet to win a match with 0 MP. Perak has played all four games. While Kuala Lumpur, Johor, PDRM and Melaka have one more game each to play today.
