15 February 2011, Kuala Lumpur – At the CENTO 1st International Chess Open in Bologna, Italy, Dreev Aleksev took first prize beating David Alberto and Salvador Roland on tie-break points.
Here is a game between Dreev and Naumkin in the eighth round of the Cento 1st International Chess Open in Bologna, Italy, which brought in an important point for Dreev. Dreev had the white queen placed at a8 and one advanced b-pawn threatening to queen. While the black king is hemmed-in at h8 trapped by the bishop at g8 and two pawns. Strangely, the black’s two rooks are on the 7th rank but they should be on the 8th rank protecting the king. The Dutch Defence transpired during the game.
