image 19 September 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Svidler drew his third game and drew closer to securing the FIDE World Cup 2011 in Khanty Mansiysk, Russia. reported that Peter Svidler had no trouble holding Alexander Grischuk to a draw in the third game of their World Cup final match.
In fact, it was Svidler who had the better position with the black pieces, and Grischuk was replying on the 30 second time increment yet again to survive.  This time he managed to navigate to safe waters and salvage a draw.
Tomorrow Grischuk needs to conjure up a win with the black pieces to take the match to tie-breaks.
Vassily Ivanchuk drew a long and tiring game with Ruslan Ponomariov to leave himself needing just half a point with black in the final game tomorrow to reach the Candidates Tournament.
