Nakamura Wins Unive

28 October 2012, Kuala Lumpur – In Hoogeveen, Netherlands, Nakamura was crowned as the new Unive Crown Group Champion 2012.

The official website reported that Hikaru Nakamura, the Unive Crown Group-playing the beautiful score of 4.5 out of 6. The American followed exactly the same tournament strategy as Vladimir Kramnik, the winner of last year: three wins with white, black with three draws. The reward itself: Nakamura brought home the first prize of 4000 euro cash and rose five precious Elo points in the international rating list.

The latter counts for him at the moment as much as a first prize. A poor performance in the recent Grand Prix tournament in London took twenty Nakamura rating points, which caused him to drop out of the global top ten. With five points in Hoogeveen, he lost ground still not well made, but it is a step in the right direction.
