Swiercz Dariuz, Cori Deysi Are World Junior Champions!

16 August 2011, Kuala Lumpur – At the World Junior Chess Championships 2011 in Chennai, India, the official website reported that Poland’s Grandmaster Swiercz Dariusz and Peruvian WGM Cori T Deysi emerged champions in the SDAT- Ramco 50th World Junior & 29th World Junior Girls Championship organized by Tamil Nadu State Chess Association at Hotel Vijay Park, Chennai here today.

Swiercz Dariusz caught leader Robert Hovhannisyan in the tape and finished with 10.5 points. A superior tie-break gave the Polish Grandmaster the World Junior Champion title.

 

Malaysia’s Lim Zhou Ren finished in 104th spot scoring a total of 5.0 points from 13 rounds of play. His rating performance for the tournament was 2156 compared to his international rating of 2155. Lim’s starting rank was 90.

Lim Zhou Ren Wins With Catalan, WJ 2011

11 August 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Here is the ninth round game played by NM Lim Zhou Ren (pix below), MAS 2155 against Yohan J of India 2017 during the 50th World Junior 2011 in Chennai, India. The tournament is played over 13 rounds of classical time control.

During the game, Lim manages to outfox his opponent on the 24th move by winning the undefended rook at a8 as shown in pix 2. By the 29th move (pix 3), white bishop was about to take black’s central pawn e4 and take a commanding position on the board while checking black’s king on h7. Black has no checking opportunities against white. A nice win for Lim Zhuo Ren of Malaysia and increases his tally to 4 points.

Lim Zhou Ren’s Kings Indian Game, World Junior

11 August 2011, Kuala Lumpur – In Chennai, India, Malaysia’s Lim Zhou Ren played Krishna C R G of India (2330) in the 8th round of the 50th World Junior Chess Championship 2011 in a King’s Indian Defence opening [E67].

In the thrilling middle-game, Lim sacrificed a knight on the 59th move …Nxc5+ for an attack on white’s king but the hope of a black win did not materialise as white was about to checkmate black in four moves.

High flyer IM Rombaldoni suffered his first serious loss against GM Hovhannisyan of Armenia in the eighth round yesterday. Meanwhile FM Girish A Koushik of India continued his giant killing ways by disposing GM Grandelius Nils of Sweden. Top seed, GM Matlakov of Russia continue to underperform by losing to Armenian GM Ter-Sahakyan Samvel. GM Sjugirov Sanan of Russia was held back to a draw agaisnt FM Kovalev Vladislav of Bulgaria.

Meanwhile Lim Zhou Ren with 3 points on hand will now meet Yohan J of India in the ninth round today, 11th August 2011.

Sjugirov Wins First Round, World Junior

3 August 2011, Kuala Lumpur – At the World Junior Open, most of the top seeds won their first round games. Among them Sjugirov of Russia, 2629 rating, won his game. Top seed GM Matlakov Maxim of Russia (2632), drew against Indian, FM Rajesh V A V (2292) in their first round game.

Malaysian NM Lim Zhou Ren (2155) lost his first round game against Italian, IM Rambaldoni Axel (2459). Lim Zhou Ren will meet IM Vaibhav Suri, (2430) from India in the second round tomorrow.

Lim Zhou Ren In 50th World Junior Chennai

1 August 2011, Kuala Lumpur – Latest news: Malaysia’s Lim Zhou Ren is currently in Chennai India participating in the 50th World Junior Chess Championship 2011 held from 1-16th August 2011. This world series has a rich history of producing World Champions and Women World Champions.
