16 June 2012, Kuala Lumpur - The traditional round-robin grand master Tal Memorial tournament is taking place in Moscow from June 7−19, 2012. The average rating of the competition — 2776 — corresponds to the highest 22nd category.
TWIC reported that the 7th Tal Memorial round 6 saw the leader Alexander Morozevich play incredibly creatively against Hikaru Nakamura but eventually he blundered in time trouble with 38.Qd1? and lost.
Vladimir Kramnik finally beat Evgeny Tomashevsky in an ending that the latter came close to drawing to join Morozevich in the lead. Magnus Carlsen drew with Levon Aronian in a Berlin Defence. Carlsen confirmed that the Kings tournament has been either postponed or cancelled. Caruana outlasted McShane in a game where the Englishman had a number of drawing chances in a position that looked quite bad for a long time. Grischuk drew with Radjabov.
Here is the round 6 game between Morozevich and Nakamura during the 7th Mikhail Tal Memorial 2012 in Moscow, Russia in which Morozevich made the 38th move Qd1? blunder. Despite that he still co-leads in Tal Memorial with Vladimir Kramnik.
