MOHE-University of Malaya Invitational Chess is Back in 2015!

28th Sep 2015, Kuala Lumpur - A new chess tournament at University Malaya Kuala Lumpur is coming up this November 2015 organised jointly by Ministry of Higher Education and University of Malaya

INVITATIONAL CHESS COMPETITION 2015

INTRODUCTION:

This tournament is sponsored by Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE). The purpose of this tournament is to provide a Fide-rated standard time control tournament for chess players from local Institution of Higher Learning.

ELIGIBILITY:

This tournament is by invitation only. Anyone who fulfilled the following requirements can apply to participate in this tournament. The application must be send to the organizing committee before 26^th of October 2015. For the successful applicants the invitation will be send by 29^th of October 2015.

1.      Must be a Malaysian studying in an Institute of Higher Learning in Malaysia which includes

                                                              i.      Institute of Higher Learning (Public / Private)

                                                            ii.      Community College

                                                          iii.      Polytechnic

                                                           iv.      College

2.      Procedures for shortlisting the players

                                                                  i.            Only a maximum of 50 Males and 50 Females will be invited.

                                                                ii.            Fide rating less than 2200.

3.      Any IHL can send as many players as possible as long as their players fulfill the criteria. Priority of shortlisting

a.      Have fide rating

b.      Top 4 players (boys and girls) from each university

c.       First come first serve.

The others will be in the KIV list.

4.      If any of the players do not accept the offer by the 3^rd of November, this offer will be given to the other players in the KIV list.

5.      The committee decision is final and no appeal will be entertain.

TOURNAMENT DETAILS:

This Tournament is organized by University of Malaya. There will be only one event. However, there are separate prizes for males and females. The details of the event are as follows:

VENUE                                : Multipurpose Hall Sports Centre, UM Arena, University of Malaya      (May be subjected to changes)

FORMAT                             : 7 round Swiss System

TIME CONTROL                 : 90 minutes per person (no increment)

REGISTRATION FEES          : None
