30 June 2011, Kuala Lumpur – The men’s International Islamic University (Universiti Islam Antarabangsa) and women’s Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris Perak won their respective categories in the inter-varsity MASUM chess team tournament 2011.
UIA won with 19.5 points edging University of Malaya by a half point to win the Men’s MASUM Chess Team event held in UPM Serdang.
Meanwhile the women’s UPSI chess team again upstaged the ladies from University of Malaya chess team. UPSI had an unassailable 21 points against UM, second place, with 19.5 points only.
