Girls NAG 2012 – Top Five Winners

15 March 2012, Kuala Lumpur – For the girls categories of the National Age Group Chess Championship 2012 recently held at the Indoor Olympic Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, the final top five winners for the U-18, U-16, U-14, U-12, U-10 and U-8 are shown below.

In the under-18 age group, Sarika Subramaniam, younger sister to Sumant Subramaniam, won with 3.5 points from five rounds of play. In second place was Hoh Tjin Li with 3.0 points and third, Olivia Madhavan, daughter to Colin Madhavan with 2.5 points.

Meanwhile in the Under-16 age category was won by Nur Nabila bt Azman Hisham with 6.5 points from 8 rounds of play. In second place was Hoh Tjin Hui with 5.5 points and third, Tang Kar Khei with 5.0 points.

In the under-14 girls age group was won by FM Nur Najiha bt Azman Hisham, younger sister to Nur Nabila and Muhd Nabil, with a 7.0 points score. In second rank, Tan Li Ting with 6.0 points and third, Camilia Johari with 5.5 points.

In the Under-12 girls age category was won by Nithyalakshmi Sivanesan with 7.0 points from 8 rounds of play. In second position, Teh De Zen with 7.0 points. Teh De Zen lost to Nithyalakshmi in the fifth round of play. In third position, Nur Faqihah bt Aminuddin with 6.0 points.

In the Under-10 girls age group, Chua Jia-Tien came out tops with 7.5 points from 8 rounds of play. Second was Nurul Farhana bt Halim Shuhaimi with 7.0 points and third, Zainoor Ikmal Maisarah bt Mohd Noor with 6.0 points.

In the Under-8 girls age group, Goh Jie Yi won with a score of 8.0 full points from 8 rounds of play! Second, Zainoor Ikmal Munirah bt Mohd Noor with 7.0 points and third, Nur Faiqah bt Aminuddin with 5.5 points.

Boys NAG 2012 – Top Five Winners

15 March 2012, Kuala Lumpur – The National Age Group Chess Championship 2012 completed two days ago and the top five winners for each category are shown below.

In the U-18 was won by the talented Wong Jianwen with 6.5 points from 8 rounds of play. Second was Muhd Nabil Azman Hisham with 6.0 points, Third Fong Yit San with 6.0 points.

For the U-16 boys category was won by last year’s Under-14 champion, Roshan Singh Ajeet Singh with a solid 7.5 points, dropping a half point to Liew Ken Yew in round 5. In second position is Albert Ang Keliang with 6.5 points and third, Liew Ken Yew with 6.0 points.

In the Under-14 boys category was won by William Lee Kah Howe with 7.0 points. Second was Cheong Jie Yao with 7.0 points, too. Third, Shreyes Subramaniam, younger brother to Sumant Subramaniam with 6.5 points! Well done, boys!

In the Under-12 boys category was won by Tan Yong Zhao with 7.0 points followed by Teh De Juan with 7.0 points in second place. Third, Emir Rusyaidi Ahmad Nazari with 6.5 points! Not bad and well done!

Meanwhile in the Under-8 Boys category was won by Lye Lik Zang with 8.0 full points from 8 rounds of play. Second, Ng Shi Yang with 7.0 points and third Timothy Chin Guan You with 5.0 points.

Wong Jianwen Leads In NAG U-18 2012

11 March 2012, Kuala Lumpur – At the OCM Indoor Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, the National Age Group 2012 took off and in the Under-18 age bracket, Wong Jianwen, Fong Yit San and Jonathan Augustine are jointly leading with 3.0 points each after three rounds of play. Wong Jianwen beat Chan Sheng Yip on top board during the third round. Meanwhile Jonathan Augustine became giant killer by beating Low Jun Jian on third board. Fong Yit San beat Keok Kai En on second board, Muhd Nabil overcome Tariq Ziad Abdul Razak on fourth board.

A total 33 players are participating in this Under-18 age bracket. Last year’s Under-16 champion, Muhd Nabil Azman Hisham is in fourth position with 2.5 points.

10 March 2012, Kuala Lumpur – The National Age Group Chess Championship 2012 is being held early in the year this year to be held at OCM Indoor Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, 11-13 March 2012.

National Age Group Chess Championship 2012

9 Feb 2012, Kuala Lumpur - Here is an important announcement from En A Hamid Majid of an upcoming age group chess tournament.

This year's National Age Group Chess Championship will be held over 3 days (11 - 13 March 2012) in the OCM Indoor Stadium in Jalan Hang Jebat. Hope for your support to publicize the event.

I send the Entry Forms in PDF and Word as an attached file. For those who have blog sites or facebook please help advertise. Your support is appreciated. The main organizer is MCF and DAT Chess Center will be the event manager.

Parents are advised to register early due to space and logistical restrictions.
