11 November 2012, Kuala Lumpur – At the Summit Shopping Mall USJ1 today, the 1st The Summit Juniors Open Chess Tournament 2012 was held the four age group namely, Under-16, U-14, U-12 and U-10 categories at the main lobby area of the Summit Shopping Mall. The tournament was sponsored by Popular Book Store and venue provided by Summit Shopping Mall USJ1.
In the U-16 category, Muhd Irfan Haqqim Azhar won with 5 points from 6 rounds of play. Second, Low Jun Keat and third, Ms Laila Husna Sahadi, both players scored 4.5 points. Fikri Saleh finished fourth with 4 points.
Under-16 Final Ranking:
In the U-14 category, Subramaniam Sivanesan won with 5.5 points, 2nd, Mohd Faizal b Roslan with 5 points and third, Cheong Jie Yao with 4.5 points. Fourth, Ethan Wong Hsien Aun and fifth, Anish Fariha bt Saleh.
Under-14 Final Ranking:
In the U-12 category, Ng Jen Sheng (black t-shirt with trophy, 3rd from left) is the winner with 5.5 points from 6 rapid rounds of play. Second, Puteri Rifqah Fahada bt Azhar (in red head scarf, 4th from left) with 4.5 points, third, little sister, Puteri Munajjah Az-Zahraa bt Azhar, also scored 4.5 points.
Under-12 Final Ranking:
In the U-10 category, Fahim Al-Faqeh b Saleh (Gilocatur’s youngest son) won with 6/6!! An extremely excellent score and deserving winner. Second, Chew Zhi Xuan with 5 points, third, Wong Zi Yue with 5 points, too.
Chief arbiter of the event was Lim Tse Pin.
