Singapore will also be organizing the annual Singapore International Chess Festival during the Christmas Holidays starting from 26th December 2010 until 30th December followed by the Annual Malaysian-Singapore match to be played on 31st December 2010 and 1st January 2011. Penang Chess League
The annual Penang Chess League takes place this weekend at the SJK Cina Kheng Thean in Jalan Van Praagh, George Town. Seven rounds, one-hour time control games. The event is open to teams from the public sector, business community, factories, institutions of learning and registered societies and clubs. Penang open
The Penang Chess Association (PCA) will organise the Penang Heritage City international open chess championship at the Penang City Hall from Dec 8-12. This will be a Fide-rated event with a RM5,000 first prize. Nine rounds, full time control games. Entry fees for the open tournament are RM50 (Fide-rated player), RM150 (PCA members) and RM180 (others), while for the challengers section, they are RM30 (Fide-rated player), RM50 (PCA member) and RM80 (others). Upcoming Chess Tournaments In Malaysia Nov 2010

12 November 2010, Kuala Lumpur – For those looking for chess tournaments in Malaysia, here are a few choices to choose from.

SJKC Jln Davidson open
SJK Cina Jalan Davidson in Kuala Lumpur will organise an open chess tournament for under-16 players at the school this Sunday. Six rounds, 30-minute time control games. FIDE-rated tournament
The Cheras Chess Academy will hold a Fide-rated open tournament, limited to players with Fide ratings of 1950 and below, at Pusat Kecemerlangan Sukan Cochrane in Jalan Cochrane, Kuala Lumpur, from Nov 20-24. Perak closed
The Perak International Chess Association together with the Majlis Sukan Negri Perak and KLK Bhd will jointly organise the Perak closed chess championship at the Dewan MSN in Ipoh from Nov 27-28. Chess camp
A fun and informative Kids For Chess camp for beginners, intermediate-level and aspiring tournament players will be held at the Pandan Lake Club in Pandan Perdana, Kuala Lumpur, from Dec 1-2. Penang Chess League

Upcoming Weekend Chess Tournaments!

14 October 2010, Kuala Lumpur – There will be two events this weekend. Both tournaments are out of Kuala Lumpur as follows:-

a. UUM Chess Open 2010, 16 October 2010, Venue: Bgn. Teknologi Maklumat, UUM, Sintok, Kedah. Click here for details.

Upcoming Chess Tournaments

17 September 2010, Kuala Lumpur – Here are a few of the chess tournaments that will be played soon and for chess enthusiasts to make a note of.

DATCC weekender: The Datuk Arthur Tan Chess Centre will organise the fourth DATCC super supreme rapid chess weekender tournament at their Wilayah Complex premises in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 26. Seven rounds, 25-minute time control. Entry fees: RM15 for players below 12 and RM30 for others. Perak grand prix: The Kampar leg of the Tan Sri Lee Loy Seng Perak grand prix chess tournament will be played at the Grand Kampar Hotel in Kampar, Perak, on Sept 26. Entry fees are RM25 for the open section, RM15 for under-16 players and RM10 for under-12 players. Members of Perak International Chess Association and players born in Perak pay RM5 less. UPSI Open 2010: The Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) Open Chess Tournament 2010 will be held on the 23-24th October 2010 at the Bitara Siswa Hall, UPSI campus, Tanjung Malim, Perak. Entry fees are RM30 for the open section, RM15 for Secondary School, RM12 for Primary School and RM10 for UPSI students. To register, contact IZZA (0127412326), HUZAIRI (0135959350). Segamat Grand Prix 2010, 1st Leg

If you live in Johor and had always yearned to participate in a chess tournament, then one has just landed by your doorstep. And if you like the idea of grandprix style tournament, then this your golden chance to grab.

The new chess tournament is jointly organised by MSSKL Event Management, Malaysian Chess Federation and SMK Seri Kenangan, Segamat, Johor. And it is called the “SMK Seri Kenangan Rapid Chess Grandprix @SMK Seri Kenangan, Segamat, Johor”. It will have four legs in its series of tournaments beginning with 6-7th March 2010. It will climax with a fourth and grand finale in early July 2010. The rapid tournament adopts the 45 minutes time control per player per game with a 7 rounds Swiss-system spread over two days.

Seremban Parade Chess Championship 2010

Latest News: There is a new chess rapid tournament in the Seremban area. The Seremban Parade is organising a two-day chess tournament on the 27-28th February 2010 covering several categories. Two age-groups of Under-12 and Under-18 will be held on the first day of the tournament, 27th February 2010, while the open category held on the second day, 28th February 2010.

A New FIDE-rated Chess Tournament

There is a new FIDE-rated chess tournament that is being organised by INSOFAR Chess Academy that will be held once in two weeks on a Thursday night.
If you are a full weekend person and wish to have it for the family, then the alternative is to use your week nights for catching up with some chess play.
It is very unique and allows a person another avenue for reaching his ambition or goals of a FIDE rating.
