A Malaysian wins second place in World Amateur Championship 2013

3 May 2013, Kuala Lumpur – A keen reader alerted me to the news that Aron Teh Eu Wen of Malaysia won second place at the recently concluded World Amateur Championship 2013. Meanwhile retired Lim Kian Hwa of Malaysia finished in a creditable 35th position with 6 points.

Chessdom.com website reported that Romanian Lehel Vrencian grabbed the winner’s trophy at the FIDE World Amateur Chess Championship 2013, which was played in Iasi, Romania, from 21th April (1st round) to 30th April (9th round).

Vrencian obtained 8 points in the 9 rounds played. Aron Teh Eu Wen from Malaysia got the same score but fell short on tiebreaks.
